Client Gateway Enhancements

Starting May 27, 2024, improvements are being made to the Client Gateway application process to support both existing and new clients.

The Client Gateway for criminal matters has been transformative in streamlining clients’ access to legal aid services. The Gateway provides an alternative to phone applications.

In direct response to feedback from LAA employees and duty counsel lawyers, we are expanding the Gateway online form to capture financial information. This will allow LAA to collect all necessary information from applicants in one step, significantly reducing client callbacks and ensuring a seamless end-to-end process.

Online training sessions for roster lawyers: May 23, 24, 30 and 31.

Key Benefits

  • Staff and roster lawyers can gather an applicant’s financial information by filling in additional fields on the Client Gateway form.
  • The process of determining a client’s eligibility remains the same.
  • Contact Centre Intake Officers (CCIOs) will continue processing client information to determine eligibility.
