Navigating refugee claims after Bill C-12

Legal Aid Alberta is hosting an in-person workshop this May focusing on Bill C-12 and its impact on Canada’s refugee claim process.  

 

Register for a session in either Edmonton or Calgary to learn about the changes introduced in this bill and connect with peers to discuss these developments in a supportive setting.

 

Each session is limited to 25 participants, and registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once a session reaches capacity, a waitlist will be available.

  • A clear overview of the new refugee eligibility restrictions in effect as of March 26, 2026.
  • A practical discussion on the key procedural changes to how the Immigration and Refugee Board receives, processes and makes decisions.
  • An opportunity to discuss questions and client scenarios with peers
