Criminal matters and immigration consequences: What you need to know

Legal Aid Alberta is hosting a virtual professional development session to help roster lawyers on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions.

Why attend:

  • Refresh or deepen your understanding of how criminal charges and convictions can affect immigration status
  • Learn how to spot immigration risks early and avoid unintended consequences for clients
  • Get practical strategies to support clients with complex legal needs

A related session for the public will take place on Friday, Nov. 28 from 1–2 p.m., aimed at helping clients and community members understand the immigration impacts of criminal charges. Roster lawyers are encouraged to share this opportunity with anyone who may benefit.
