Job Description

Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Manage all HR operational functions including Leadership Development, Employee Development, Organizational Effectiveness, Employee Relations, Labour Relations, Total Compensation, and Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources Services team ensuring delivery of quality service.
  • Oversee all Labour relations activities including relationship with AUPE, resolution of any disputes or grievances/arbitration, negotiate collective agreement and interpretation of the agreement and legislation.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Director, People and Culture and the Executive Committee.
  • Develop and enhance people analytics, providing a suite of reports/dashboards for management in collaboration with Business Solutions & Reporting.
  • Lead the department’s response to relevant organizational initiatives and projects.
  • Partner on implementation of cross-organizational culture transformation strategy.
  • In collaboration with senior management, lead the development of organization wide in-house training programs.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Diploma or Degree in Business, Management, Human Resources or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in human resources.
  • Minimum 3 years of extensive labour relations experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of HR leadership experience.
  • CPHR designation or working towards, will be considered a strong asset

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of progressive HR management practices, principles, legislation, standards and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of labour relations, including bargaining process and practices
  • Understanding of strategic HR partnership in driving business results and teaching leaders how to effectively partner with HR.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and practices as well as understanding of budget planning.
  • Proficient computer literacy, including effective working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), SharePoint, Teams and Human Capital Management Systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to express ideas and recommendations clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships and influence change with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.
