Canadian judges have begun to recognize the unique conditions of Black Canadians in sentencing processes and decision-making through the use of Impact of Race and Cultural Assessments (IRCAs).

Professor Maria C. Dugas from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University presents: Committing to Justice: The case for Impact of Race and Culture Assessments in Sentencing African Canadians 

Professor Dugas will review what IRCAs are, why they are necessary, and the current state of the law.
