Expanded Client Gateway and LAA Portal are live

The expanded Client Gateway went live on June 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

What’s new:
  • Additional areas of law
Albertans will now be able to apply for more areas of law through the Gateway allowing users to support their clients with multiple legal issues, not just criminal matters.
  • LAA Portal launch
The Gateway is now housed within our new LAA Portal. In later phases, the LAA Portal will integrate the Lawyer Portal and DC Portal into this single streamlined and user-friendly platform.
  • Dynamic form fields
The Gateway form now includes tabbed navigation and dynamic fields, making it easier to focus on only the information needed.
  • Document uploads
Users can upload relevant documents directly through the Gateway form, helping to minimize delays caused by waiting for required documentation.
  • Preferred counsel enhancement
Users can now select up to three preferred lawyers from CRM profiles, reducing guesswork and helping ensure clients can work with their preferred lawyer.
  • Unified Gateway form
The system will now automatically load the correct version of the form (staff, roster or agency) based on the user’s login  no need to choose manually.

Currently, the expanded Gateway is available to staff lawyers, criminal roster lawyers, and select external partners. We’re taking a phased rollout approach to ensure strong support and system stability. Access will expand to family and immigration roster lawyers and other key partners later this year.

An updated how-to guide is now available, and criminal roster lawyers can sign up for the final training session on Tuesday, June 24, from 12 – 1 p.m. A recording of this training will be available online by June 27.
