Lawyer Portal outage afterhours on Sept. 2

The Lawyer Portal and several other Legal Aid Alberta systems will be unavailable from 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, to 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, for a routine update.

What’s changing?

  • New legal issues will be added to capture charges introduced through Bills C-16 and C-225:
    • 1(1) Violence Against Intimate Partner
    • 1(1.1) Threats to Publish Images
    • 1(4.2) Threats to Publish Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
    • 1(1) Recruitment of Young Person
    • Charges 162.1(1.1), 16.1(4.2) and 169.1(1) are a priority for Designated Sexual Offences Membership lawyers.
  • The Welcome to Roster email template has been updated to direct lawyers to Roster Resources webpage.
  • New Duty Counsel Types and Tariff Templates added in Lawyer Portal and ShiftBoard to improve reporting.

    • Duty Counsel Prep Day – Drug Treatment Court
    • Duty Counsel Prep Day – First Nation Court
    • Duty Counsel Prep Day – MHRP
  • A typo has been corrected in Lawyer Portal. For Child Welfare outcomes on a final invoice, “Consented TGO” has been changed to “Contested TGO.”
