To help ensure timely access to legal services for clients, we ask all roster members to keep their availability status up to date in the Lawyer Portal. When availability isn’t updated, clients may experience delays in receiving support, as offers expire after 48 hours. By regularly reviewing and updating your status, you’re helping clients get the timely assistance they need.
If you are temporarily unavailable, you must change your status to ‘Unavailable’. This requires updating:
- Your ‘Unavailable Start Date’ and a projected ‘Unavailable End Date’
If you plan to leave the Roster permanently, you must:
- Change your status to ‘Removed from Roster’
- Enter the date in the ‘Unavailable Start Date’ field
Any time you change your status, you must also select a reason and press ‘Update’ at the bottom of the page.
- Unavailable reasons: On leave (vacation, parental leave, sabbatical), case load (if your workload is heavy but you still want to accept offers for existing clients, you may opt out of the General Roster rotation)
- Removed from Roster reasons: Retired, moved out of province, non-practicing (moving to a firm that does not accept LAA matters, or changing practice areas)
Removal from Roster:
Once you select ‘Removed from Roster’ it cannot be changed in the Lawyer Portal. Before removing yourself, you must:
- Final bill all outstanding certificates
- Submit Authorization Requests for Change of Counsel, if applicable
