LAA announces vaccine policy for staff

Legal Aid Alberta is ensuring a safe workplace and helping reduce the spread of COVID-19 by introducing a vaccine policy for all staff members.

Effective December 15, 2021, all LAA employees attending an LAA office or workplace are required to provide their COVID-19 immunization record showing that they are fully vaccinated, or negative results of a privately administered, Health Canada-approved COVID-19 test performed within the preceding 48 hours of attending the office or workplace.

As it stands, LAA staff will be required to submit a Government of Alberta COVID-19 vaccine QR code. This code can be obtained from https://covidrecords.alberta.ca. (Alternatively, you can request a printed proof of vaccination with a QR code from a local registry agent office or by calling 8-11.)

The purpose of this policy is to reduce the risk of COVID-19 to staff and clients, and to ensure LAA remains operationally effective.

The pandemic has altered our lives in significant ways and we believe that vaccinations provide the best protection against the spread of COVID-19.

At present, restrictions announced by the Chief Medical Officer of Health September 16, 2021 requiring people to work from home unless the employer has determined a physical presence is required for operational effectiveness remains in effect.
