Job Description

Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Lead, some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Able to independently run end to end payroll cycle and related activities on a semi-monthly and yearly basis
  • Setup and Run Regular and Exception Payroll
  • Verifying setup of new employees in Dayforce system
  • Verifying and approving changes to employee records in the Dayforce system (name, marital status, position changes, pay rate changes, employment status changes).
  • Completing Record of Employment as required.
  • Producing standard payroll reports following each pay cycle.
  • Ensuring employee personnel records are kept up to date.
  • Providing timely responses to employees regarding payroll and benefit inquiries.
  • Maintaining a strong working knowledge and ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, legislation, standards, and regulations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years payroll and benefits experience. Working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field – acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Preference will be given to those currently working towards or completed Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word).
  • Experience with Dayforce is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of payroll regulations and employment legislation.
  • Understanding of Basic Accounting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Works well under pressure –deadlines are non-negotiable.
  • Research and analytical skills.

Requirements
