Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Lead, some of the key responsibilities include:
Able to independently run end to end payroll cycle and related activities on a semi-monthly and yearly basis
Setup and Run Regular and Exception Payroll
Verifying setup of new employees in Dayforce system
Verifying and approving changes to employee records in the Dayforce system (name, marital status, position changes, pay rate changes, employment status changes).
Completing Record of Employment as required.
Producing standard payroll reports following each pay cycle.
Ensuring employee personnel records are kept up to date.
Providing timely responses to employees regarding payroll and benefit inquiries.
Maintaining a strong working knowledge and ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, legislation, standards, and regulations.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years payroll and benefits experience. Working in a unionized environment is an asset.
Post-secondary education in a relevant field – acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Preference will be given to those currently working towards or completed Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation.
Knowledge and Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word).
Experience with Dayforce is considered a strong asset.
Strong understanding and knowledge of payroll regulations and employment legislation.
Understanding of Basic Accounting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Works well under pressure –deadlines are non-negotiable.
Research and analytical skills.
