Job Description

Legal Aid Alberta is seeking to fill a full time Business Intelligence Analyst in our downtown Edmonton office.  This position will appeal to an individual that likes to take initiative, is client focused and is exceptionally strong in delivering high-quality results.

Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence and Forecasting, some of the key responsibilities of the Business Intelligence Analyst are to:

  • Ensures the right information is identified at the appropriate level of detail to assist in analysis of the business.
  • Ensures the business intelligence enables modes of accessing and analyzing data that are most conducive to fulfilling the objectives of the business.
  • Leading data stewardship and data quality initiatives and will actively seek the support of other business units.
  • Coordinate the business intelligence efforts within the organization to ensure that any issues or gaps are identified.
  • Business units will involve the Business Intelligence Analyst routinely in developing and maintaining analytical and forecast models.
  • Ad hoc analysis or report generation at request of leadership or business units to assist with decision making.
  • Assist the Information Technologies team as required with:
    • Data gathering exercises
    • Report or analytical development
    • Liaising with business users to gather requirements and ensuring appropriate solutions
  • Assist the Finance team as required with:
    • Financial report preparation
    • Budget preparation
    • Annual Federal Claim
    • CCJS Statistical annual survey
    • Audit support
  • Help business units develop and report on KPI’s
  • Provide requested analytical insights and information as required for the annual report and business plan.
  • Provide requested analytical insights and information as required for board reporting.
  • Maintain regular contact and communications with business users with regards to reporting or analytic needs.
  • Develop and maintain analytical workbooks or dashboards to support regular reporting and business activities.
  • Provide end-user training, as required, for use of supported analytic tool.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field (Finance, Business, Information Technology)
  • 2 – 5 years related experience. A combination or education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with public sector or government organizations as asset.

Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft CRM an asset.
  • Knowledge of SQL, SSRS, PowerBI, and related tools as asset.

Skills:

  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills along with strong analytical skills with the ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and evaluation skills.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, and problem-solving proficiency.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
