Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Business Solutions, some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Construct tools and data models to help visualize data, identify patterns, potential risks or opportunities in business practices and provide recommendations for improvement to enhance the reputation of the organization in for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Extract raw data from its originating source, and convert it into organized and comprehensive data sets, identifying data integrity issues, and transforming data into business-useable information in the organizations BI Datamart.
  • Provide end-to-end analytic solutions, from data investigation to visual presentations that serve multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain analytical workbooks, reports and dashboards to support regular reporting and business activities. Partner with business leaders to develop business performance measures and build dashboards/reports to provide timely and strategic insights.
  • Develop processes for gathering and analyzing data and automating key reporting processes.
  • Responsible for providing the appropriate permissions to existing reports, datasets, and databases.
  • Troubleshoot data performance and data quality related issues.
  • Participate in projects as a data migration SME, provide recommendations for smooth transitions of data among systems.
  • Active collaboration and support of business users, including ad hoc Executive requests.
  • Provide requested analytical insights and information as required for the annual report, business plan, monthly operational reporting, performance reporting and Board reporting.
  • Maintain a good relationship with business leaders in the organization to influence them in applying best practices. Provide training and presentations on how to best use data to make important fact-based business decisions across the organization.
  • Mentor other team members within the Business Solutions and Reporting Department in data collection, reporting and analysis.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field (Finance, Business, Information Technology)
  • Minimum 8 years related experience.
  • Experience with public sector or government organizations as asset.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of SQL, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, Power BI, Power Apps and related tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central, Microsoft CRM, and Ceridian Dayforce an asset.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills along with strong analytical skills with the ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to influence business leaders in making sound business decisions, provide solutions to highly complicated initiatives.
