Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Certificate and Tariff, some of the key responsibilities include:
Apply the LAA Tariff and invoicing policies fairly and without bias.
Act as a Tariff, invoicing and certificate resource, communicating with lawyers and Administrative Staff internally and externally in response to inquiries made and concerns raised.
Review authorization requests from lawyers for various certificate-based items.
Review and manage change of counsel, termination of service and cancellation of service requests.
Review and manage Roster applications and profiles.
Schedule Roster and Staff lawyers for Duty Counsel assignment throughout the province.
Answer phone queries from members of the legal community.
Identify opportunities and make recommendations for improved service delivery.
Assigns lawyers to client files that have been approved for coverage considering defined business rules.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in legal, criminal justice or business related discipline is preferred.
Minimum 2 years of administrative experience.
Preferred minimum 1 year experience in an accounting position and/or a client file management position in a medium size organization, preferably law and/or justice related.
Preferred general knowledge and experience in the legal system.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of accounting, legal terminology and court systems would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of LAA Tariff, rules, policies and procedures would be considered an asset.
Able to use and proficient in Microsoft suite
Familiarity with databases and various computer applications.
Knowledge of CRM (preferable but not necessary).
