The Counsel connection is the new online web community for lawyers who are, or who want to be, involved in the LAA program. It provides up-to-date information on what’s new at LAA, access to all the tools you need to be successful with your LAA clients, and news and events that are of interest to lawyers. To gain full access to the Counsel Connection you must be a member of the LAA roster.

Legal Aid Alberta is pleased to offer roster lawyers and legal assistants a new online program that makes billing for legal aid accounts easier. The e-Bill program operates on a simplified process that ensures less time is spent billing for accounts and that payments are received sooner. e-Bill has the power to eliminate the need for tariff memorization, time-consuming paper bill processes and costly archives necessary for retaining paper records. e-Bill was custom-designed to be user-friendly, and the Taxation department will remain an important and easy-to-reach contact should further assistance be needed.
e-Bill is the tool that will make billing enjoyable!
To start enjoying the ease of billing online today, Sign into the Counsel Connection for more information. Full access to E-bill is available to all lawyers on the roster.
Recruitment and retention of our Roster is always of vital importance and has been highlighted as a strategic priority in Legal Aid Alberta’s current strategic plan. It is our hope that the changes to our tariff will make it easier for lawyers to do business with LAA; and those lawyers will be able to utilize/bill hours within a block to the most pertinent issues without being restricted by a compartmentalized tariff.
