A: A will may name one or more people to be an administrator, that is, a person who carries out the will maker’s wishes. In Alberta, an administrator can also be called a personal representative, but a more common name is executor. A female executor can also be called an executrix. The executor’s role is to gather the estate assets, to pay all valid outstanding debts of the estate and to distribute the estate, according to the will.
