A:  You will be put on a budget. The Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy sets out a formula to determine what amount is reasonable, for you to keep, and what is paid to the trustee. You will be allowed to keep an amount that allows you to support yourself and your family.  Any wages earned above this amount are called “surplus earnings,” and will go your trustee in order to be distributed among your creditors.
